Our mission is to inspire emerging generations to develop and sustain healthy bodies and healthy environments.

Purpose Statement
Healthy Leaders was created to engage youth and young adults in healthy living practices by providing programs and services that appeal to the special interests, popular pastimes and learning preferences current in our society.

Vision
To support leadership development we provide a comprehensive on-line resource for virtual learning, social networking and community service. Our viral network extends across the nation connecting Healthy Leaders in an effort to improve the personal lives and communities of the members we servie. We are dedicated to raising awareness by presenting information with new media marketing and cutting-edge communications technology. We tap into the attitudes of young peole to make health and eco-consciousness a prevalent and accessible trend in diverse communities. To achieve this we use art, media, mentorship and technology to train youth for effective leadership.

Meet The Founder
Karyl-Lyn Sanderson attended New York University's Tish School Of The Arts where she earned a BFA in Film and Television Production. As a student, Ms. Sanderson excelled in the area of editing and directing and she produced several noteworthy shorts, including her thesis film Elusive Fortune, a documentary about identity politics in the New South Africa. She traveled to Cape Town, South Africa for a semester abroad to produce the film. Other credits include, externships in development at New Line Cinema in NY and assisting in editing for Sam Pollard on Half Past Autumn, a documentary about the life of Gordon Parks. Ms. Sanderson was the founder of the New York University Film Association "1555" and served as the producer of events and screenings, which showcased local talents and artistry at the Brooklyn Museum of Arts.
With her newly acquired BFA degree, Ms. Sanderson moved to Kingston, Jamaica to direct and edit music videos and commercials for Phase 3 Production. The music video she worked on, Momma Pappa by independent artist Spotlight, garnered the attention of the local music industry and the video catapulted the song to a hit single.
Thereafter, she moved back to her hometown Los Angeles and focused on screenwriting. She completed 2 feature length screenplays. She also forged an alliance with local artists and created the series 5 Minutes of Fame. This project afforded community members with an interest in digital storytelling the opportunity to produce 5-minute shorts with Ms. Sanderson that she subsequently screened in various nightclubs throughout Los Angeles.
Ms. Sanderson has shown leadership in the non-profit sector, including teaching video production at the Watts Labor Community Center and serving as a two-term fellow of the Americorp Leadership Program, Public Allies. As an ally she worked at the Tavis Smiley Foundation as a Program Coordinator, at the Coalition for Responsible Community Development as the Supportive Services Coordinator, and at the Youth Mentoring Connection as a Development Associate.
Other related experience includes work in marketing for Verizon Wireless Music Unleashed National Concert Tours. She traveled domestically as a Digital Video Specialist with musical talents such as The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, John Legend, The Pussy Cat Dolls, Wyclef Jon, Chris Brown and others. Ms. Sanderson also served as a video technician in the Entertainment Studies Division at U.C.L.A. Extention and she taught multimedia courses at Los Angeles College International.
Mrs. Sanderson is currently serving as the Founder of Healthy Leaders, a web-based health initiative to promote healthy living, using new media marketing and interactive technology. She happily resides in Mid City Los Angeles, California and enjoys running, swimming, biking, yoga, capoeira, meditation, and hiking.
